| || This position will act as a key team member working on the Frontiers of Innovation (FOI) initiative at the rapidly growing, mission-driven Center on the Developing Child. FOI is the Center’s engine for driving a science-based innovation movement. Launched in 2011, this highly collaborative and growing network includes more than a thousand service providers, researchers, program developers, parents, community leaders, policymakers, philanthropists, and experts in systems change, all engaged in shared learning to produce transformative outcomes at a population level.|
A primary focus within FOI has been to build a pipeline for innovation. We see this as having four phases, including:
- Sourcing new ideas, people, and sites.
- Incubating early-stage pilots to establish proof of concept.
- Accelerating the transition of promising pilots to scalability.
- Scaling to drive expanded implementation within existing organizations or systems.
Over the past five years we have focused on developing a process for supporting interventions through Incubation, including a robust technical assistance infrastructure. We are now on the cusp of needing to build out the Transition to Scalability phase. This position will support work across each of the phases of the pipeline, with a focus on the Incubation and Transition to Scalability phases. This role will work closely with the Directors of these two phases, and a team of Senior Project Managers, as part of this complex and growing initiative. This initiative is highly visible and has significant impact to the Center, to Harvard, and to the larger field. T
The Center on the Developing Child was founded in 2006 and has been extremely successful in generating ongoing funding year over year. In July of 2015, the Center launched a $66M 5-year campaign and 18 months later, had raised 48% of that 5 year goal. Although this position is a one year term position, there is a high probability of ongoing funding for renewal.
Responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to:
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and external partners to develop the Transition to Scalability approach
- Serving as Project Lead for intervention teams in the Incubation and Transition to Scalability phases, which will include building and maintaining strong relationships with community partners, developing mutually agreed upon workplans, and leading intervention teams through the Center’s technical assistance and seed grant processes
- Engaging new partners to support and expand the work, including making public presentations and being a part of site visits and other outreach efforts
- Support work in the Center’s emerging initiative with pediatric health care office settings, and also the emerging relationship with a network of large multi-site child and family serving organizations across the country
- Working collaboratively to develop evaluation plans for site- and state-based work and tracking outcomes and lessons learned along the way
- Assisting with development of written materials, both for internal and external purposes
- Handling sensitive situations and confidential information with discretion, and problem-solving effectively
- Supervising FOI project coordinators/managers and student interns
- Assisting with monitoring costs in collaboration with finance team, and
- Other tasks as needed.
| || Bachelor’s degree required. 5 years professional experience in early childhood, community-based, or public policy-related work. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior-level managers and a variety of key stakeholders, i.e. scientists, scholars, policymakers, and high-level leaders in the public, non-profit and private sectors. Previous project management experience. |

Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to deal effectively with senior-level managers and a variety of key stakeholders, including scientists, scholars, policymakers, and high-level leaders in the public, non-profit and private sectors. Strong oral and written communication skills. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.|
