Our business model is a little unusual. We've created a place where people come together to exchange ideas and experiences. They’re why we’re committed to keeping the eBay Inc. culture fun and unique and why we give back through the eBay Foundation, eBay Giving Works, volunteer programs, and our charity program outreach. Everyday, our people define a culture that’s exciting and real. We’re real people with real ideas doing real work.
We believe in diversity in both thought and experience because it helps us lead with our head, our hands, and our heart. We encourage a creative, diverse environment characterized by respect for the individual and their background. We are committed to hiring, promoting, and compensating employees based on their qualifications and demonstrated ability to perform job responsibilities. As an equal opportunity employer, eBay Inc. promotes equal employment opportunity to all employees and applicants, without regard to age, race, color, national origin, physical or mental disability, gender, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital or veteran status, condition of pregnancy, or any other legally protected characteristic.
Social responsibility is part of our mission. In 1998, we started the eBay Foundation with a donation of 107,250 shares of eBay stock to Community Foundation Silicon Valley (CFSV). CFSV is a tax-exempt public charity with the mission to promote philanthropy and build a strong community. It was the first pre-IPO investment of this type and more than 400 companies have followed our lead.
Each year, these funds provide the tools, hope, and direction people need to help them reach their potential. Through the Foundation, eBay families contribute to the larger community. And employees from all departments help define how monies are spent. At eBay Inc., commitment to a better community is why we’re here. And why you should be, too.
