NHS Education for Scotland invites General Practice Nurses (GPNs) to apply for a Clinical Career Fellowship to develop their clinical skills and leadership potential to an advanced level.
The National Health and Social Care Workforce Plan, Part 3 - Improving Workforce Planning for Primary Care in Scotland (Scottish Government 2018) announced funding to support nurses working in Primary Care http://www.gov.scot/Publications/2018/04/3662/6. Part of this investment is for additional training to enhance the skills of GPNs so they are better equipped to meet the needs of their population now and in the future.
NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is delighted to offer up to 15 Clinical Career Fellowships (CCF) for GPNs to develop their clinical leadership potential through a 2-year Fellowship. Successful applicants will gain the opportunity to develop advanced level clinical skills, develop personally, professionally and academically to benefit clinical practice.
We welcome applications from enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated nurses, who have been working as a GPN for (approximately) between 2 and 10 years. The Fellowship will comprise:
* Funded post-graduate Diploma, over 2 years, commencing September 2018
* A national induction day
* Participation in Action Learning Sets over the 2-year period, to develop successful strategies to resolve real-life practice and professional issues
* Participation in a series of Clinical Leadership Master classes over the 2-year period
* One-to-one support will be provided by an experienced healthcare professional.
Funding will be provided for study leave of 1 day (7.5hrs) per week for 45 weeks per year, over the 2-year period. Travel costs to attend the Action Learning Sets and Leadership Masterclasses will be reimbursed.
