This Role 

Our Director of NMAHP, Dr Colette Ferguson is retiring after many years distinguished service to health and education.  NES is now seeking to make an appointment to this rewarding and strategically important post. The role of NES continues to develop at pace and if successful you will join a progressive organisation at a time when a well-educated, trained and developed workforce is at the heart of the transformational change across the health and care sector in Scotland.

You will report to the Chief Executive Caroline Lamb and be a member of the NES Executive Team. You will make a significant contribution to the strategic development of NES, our role as the People Board for NHSScotland including our highly regarded digital transformation agenda.

There will be a recommendation to the Cabinet Secretary to appoint the successful applicant as an Executive Director of the NES Board.

The Applicant

What You Will Bring

·    Significant experience of working at Board and Executive level in complex organisations with demonstrable experience of influencing and sustaining excellent working relationships across a diverse and powerful set of stakeholders 
·    A strategic thinker with demonstrable track record of delivering transformational change 
·    An inspirational leader who can engage and empower staff driving forward new models of delivery and ways of working
·    Demonstrable evidence of the ability to deliver strategic outcomes through collaborative leadership working across health, care and education 

What You Will Have

·    Registration as a nurse or midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
·    Honours Degree and educated to doctoral level or equivalent in nursing or a cognate subject
·    In depth understanding of the context for healthcare in Scotland, the NHS workforce and workforce development
·    In-depth knowledge of education, training and development systems and processes that underpin the health and care system

Interview Arrangements

Interviews will take place in Edinburgh on the 30 August 2017. Short listed candidates will also be given the opportunity to meet individual members of the Executive Team and the senior management team in NMAHP in advance of the interviews on the 30 August.
