NES are establishing a new core training programme – Broad Based Training. This exciting GMC approved programme offers trainees the opportunity to develop their specialty career interest through a 2 year programme with trainees rotating through paediatrics, medicine, psychiatry and general practice. The programme will be a national programme with responsibility for trainees across the four regions of the Scotland Deanery. As this is a new programme, the initial work of the training programme director will be to contribute to the planning, development and implementation of the new programme which is to be launched in August 2018. The Training Programme Director will also be responsible for overseeing and managing trainees when the programme is established.
The TPD should be a Consultant or GP and is accountable to the Postgraduate Dean and appropriate Associate Dean. He or she may also combine the role with that of an educational and/or clinical supervisor.
The post is currently paid 1.5 PA to reflect the workload around setting up this new programme.
