The Underwriting Leadership Development Program (ULDP) is a three-year rotational experience designed to develop high-potential underwriting talent into future underwriting leaders at Aetna. The program provides the premier entry point into Aetnas Underwriting Career pipeline by providing exposure to key underwriting areas through rotational opportunities within segments such as: National Accounts, Public and Labor, Local & Regional Businesses, Specialty, Medicare, International and Voluntary businesses
Program participants will supports the Underwriting segments by performing accurate underwriting analysis and risk assessment for new business and/or renewal of existing customers.
Throughout each of the three ULDP rotations the program participant will:
Prepare and deliver new and/or existing business proposals/renewals.
Analyze and make recommendations for plan changes and rate impact based on financial analysis, underwriting principals, and business strategy.
Use rating/financial tools, reference materials, and source systems for premium/fee, membership, and claim information.
Verify contracts/documents to ensure established underwriting guidelines are met.
Assist department on projects or workgroups.
Identify process improvement through automation or process changes and makes recommendations to management when appropriate.
Attend all ULDP related training and activities
Previous (0-2 years) experience in underwriting pricing methodologies and funding arrangements.
Knowledge of rating system/tools/applications and underwriting concepts required.
Demonstrated analytical and independent thinking skills.
Demonstrated leadership ability
Strong attention to detail and organization
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
