OVERVIEW
This year, NBCUniversal set up a new division, Media Labs, which is dedicated to driving Technology Innovation across all areas of business both domestically and internationally. This role is responsible for ensuring the company is aware of new and emerging technologies that have the potential to provide a new commercial opportunity, or negative impact to our ongoing business. Through working with senior leadership, key stakeholders (both inside NBCUniversal and externally) and business units across the company, this role is responsible for understanding business imperatives, challenges, threats and constraints for which Media Labs technology innovation could assist in providing solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Sitting within the Media Labs’ Commercial Development team, but acting across all business divisions, the aim of the Innovation Analyst is to help identify and scope projects that meet challenges, or exploit opportunities presented to NBCUniversal. Reporting to the Research Director within Media Labs, this position will also work closely with other members of the Media Labs team, and with the wider NBCUniversal community, to scope projects and help promote and sustain a culture of innovation across the company.

Event Facilitation
  • Assisting in the Organization and facilitation of onsite/offsite workshops and outcome driven collaborative sessions that identify challenges, capitalize on opportunities or deliver iterative enhancements that will drive the business forwards.

    Research Activities
  • Engage in research activities into emerging technologies, both constructive and destructive, ideologies and methodologies, both traditional and nascent, plus other areas pertinent to the group, and report back – driving exploration, discussion or adoption.

    Project Inclusion
  • Work with and within Media Labs project teams to help deliver the projects that the team takes on, in capacities from Subject Matter Expert to Alpha/Beta tester.

    Outreach and Engagement
  • Manage various parts of the Media Labs “Wave” presence, including product reviews, project updates, and idea cultivation and harvesting, and engagement development to further promote the innovation team’s agenda.
  • Build and maintain relationships with relevant levels of businesses around the company that will in turn focus the efforts of the wider innovation team.
  • Represent NBCU at relevant conferences, seminars, workshops and other sessions, both internally and externally that are deemed important to the innovation agenda.
  • BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Digital Technology, Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
  • Minimum 2 year experience in Client Facing/Business Relationship Management role
  • Minimum 2 year experience in Project Management with delivery accountability
  • Minimum 2 year experience in business analysis and requirements gathering, writing, and managing use cases and functional/technical requirements creation
  • Minimum 2 year experience interacting with all levels of management and stakeholders; must be able to articulate technical concepts and solutions to both deeply technical and non-technical audience
  • Must be willing and able to travel internationally
  • Willingness to work long hours and on weekends with short notice
  • Proficient in MS Office or similar productivity suite
  • Good understanding of WEB 2.0 technologies, including RSS, Social Media, UCS, Hyperlink, Signaling, API’s/SDKs (preferable)
  • Demonstrable experience or acknowledged qualification in Media, Television/Broadcast or Film
  • Demonstrable “Early Adopter” status in terms of consumer technology (domestic level as a desirable, prolific as an attractive)
  • Strong problem solving and lateral thinking skills
  • Keen networker and relationship cultivator
