JOB PURPOSE:
The Program Scheduling and Research Systems team manages 2 large custom enterprise applications, critical to the TV Business. The applications are used by both Broadcast and Cable networks are various sites across the country but mainly New York City. The function of the Technical Manager would be to help lead development teams engaging in support, analysis and project work and supply technical and strategic guidance to the broader team. Both applications are undergoing large-scale rewrite and development efforts. The candidate should have experience working in a complex, challenging environment, working on functional and technical design challenges, managing projects and scrum meetings. S/he will be engaging cross-functional teams bringing together business, business engagement leads, architects, development leads and QA staff to ensure quality delivery. RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Become a design, technical and functional expert for the team.
•Partner with Business Engagement Leads to ensure optimal implementation of requirements
•Know database design inside and out; perform data analysis and lead data conversion efforts
•Engage development teams, architects and QA leads to ensure quality design and quality end product.
•Become a subject matter expert on system functionality.
•Partner with other internal infrastructure teams to develop solutions that support the Research business (ie. Desktop engineering, Teradata DBAs, Server Ops, etc)
•Propose solutions and provide strategic technical direction across the team.
•Review design and functional quality.
•Project Manage teams and projects.
•Strong technical focus: 5+ years in a hands-on technical or developer role.
•3+ years of experience building business applications from concept to execution including designing and developing business applications.
•3+ Years as a Project Manager, Product Manager or Development Manager leading development teams.
•Strong SQL skills: 3+ years of experience designing databases and running SQL analysis in support of projects or applications.
•3+ years of hands-on .NET development, architecture or development lead experience.
•Thorough understanding of programming, building applications, Software Development Life Cycles and supporting custom applications
•Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work with multiple groups.
•Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience
