The Vice President, Communications works closely with the Senior Vice President to develop and implement corporate communications strategies for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment’s Entertainment Networks group (USA Network and SYFY) and studio Universal Cable Productions (UCP). A top-notch strategist and impeccable writer, this high profile position serves as the key Communications contact for the networks’ and studio’s marketing, digital, ad sales, distribution, international and business development/ventures divisions.
The Vice President, Communications will:
•With SVP, manage trade & business media strategies and outreach for USA, SYFY and UCP
•Oversee Communications for:
•All marketing and digital initiatives and content;
•Upfront/ad sales and distribution for the networks, working closely w/NBCU's ad sales & distribution communications leads;
•Business development/ventures including films, consumer products, publishing and more
•Serve as key Communications contact for EVP, Marketing and Digital, as well as heads of marketing, creative, digital, division, ventures and research divisions
•Senior executive support for speaking engagements, industry events and presentations, including writing speeches and talking points
•Manage creation and upkeep of network and studio bios, boilerplates, fact sheets, etc.
•Oversee internal communications for the department, including intranet and corporate website updates, and team reports
•Serve as network and studio liaison for pro social initiatives
•Serve as primary network Communications and PR partner for key partnerships, including the WWE
The ideal candidate:
•Has at least 10-12 years of public relations/communications experience (5+ at the executive level). Corporate entertainment/television experience preferred
•Is a demonstrated wordsmith who writes clear, concise and compelling press materials, speeches and briefs -- quickly and under pressure. Writing samples required
•Thrives in a fast paced, high volume environment. The ability to manage many competing priorities at once is paramount to the position’s success
•Is highly collaborative and is a relationship builder and unifier with colleagues at all levels
•Has strong existing relationships with industry media, including business and trade journalists
•Loves leading and mentoring a team – but is also a “doer” who leads by example
•Approaches their role strategically and creatively
•Has a deep understanding of the current television landscape
