As a result of sustained growth and current and planned expansion AMEC’s E&I operations in the Maritime Provinces of Canada (New Brunswick and Nova Scotia) are looking for capable geotechnical engineers at all levels (Senior, Intermediate and Entry levels).

Successful candidates will be joining an existing high-performance team and will have the opportunity to contribute to the further development of that team and to their own careers.

As a geotechnical professional working from one of the Maritimes select choice of cities and towns (in 2012 Halifax and Fredericton were ranked by Moneysense among the top seven places to live in Canada, while Fredericton and Moncton ranked in the top four places for best buys in real estate) you can expect to be engaged in a variety of challenging projects, both within Atlantic Canada and further afield, including the opportunity to work on landmark projects in Western Canada, North and South America and other international locations.

We are looking for those that are seeking a special career challenge – and who wish to have the chance to excel in their chosen fields.

Our areas of work includes traditional fields such as building foundations, structures, roadways, retaining structures, levees, etc.; work associated with hydro-electric dams and water retention sub-systems feeding in to hydro-electric generating systems, etc.; and mining environmental projects including design of tailings dams and facilities, impoundment structures, water diversion/ management systems and mine infrastructure. AMEC is recognized as a world leader in the provision of consulting and engineering services to the global mining sector, throughout the life-cycle, from inception and feasibility, to construction, operation and ultimately closure.

Our Maritime operations have over 120 staff with an impressive depth and breadth of capabilities with professionals working as project managers, scientists, geologists, engineers, biologists, environmental planners, and other specialized fields. Together with our sister division, Power and Process, we have over 200 staff in the Maritimes.

New Brunswick has a population of 750,000 and AMEC E&I has offices in Fredericton (population 100,000), Moncton (140,000), and Saint John (130,000). Nova Scotia has a population of 950,000 and AMEC E&I has offices in Halifax (400,000) and Sydney (35,000). These cities are great places to live, especially with a young family. The cost of living is the lowest in Canada, housing is affordable, and there are excellent recreational opportunities. The primary working language for AMEC E&I’s operations in the Maritimes is English. There are regular flights from Halifax to London.

AMEC can provide assistance to individuals looking to relocate from Europe to the Maritimes. Obtaining a work permit in Canada can take 2 to 4 months.
