AMEC’s Environment &Infrastructure (E&I) division is currently recruiting an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to further develop their career in geotechnical engineering and to work under the mentorship of an experienced team on unique and exciting projects.

AMEC’s E&I division is a leading consulting business, providing a wide range of technical disciplines including; geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering and science, infrastructure design and management, materials testing and engineering, surveying, water resource services, and programme management; supporting clients throughout the full life cycle.

Our Calgary Geotechnical group’s project work includes: assessment, monitoring and mitigation of landslides, design and geotechnical monitoring of large tailings dykes, , geotechnical site investigations and the design of shallow and deep foundations for sites around Calgary, across Alberta and at permafrost sites throughout the Canadian Arctic.    

Responsibilities:
·         Work under the direction and supervision of other Senior Geotechnical Engineers in AMEC’s Calgary office.
·         Provide geotechnical engineering and project management on a wide variety of projects, including slope assessments for highways, coal mining and pipeline clients; oil sands developments, municipal infrastructure foundations for commercial and industrial developments,
·         Construction monitoring on projects (e.g. pile installation, earthworks);
·         Geotechnical drilling, test pitting and soil logging;
·         Opportunity to collaborate with other AMEC offices/geotechnical engineering staff on projects elsewhere in Western Canadian or international locations
·         Work in the field and preparation of field reports and other office assignments;

Qualifications:
·         University graduate with a minimum of a Bachelors Degree (preferably with Masters or Ph.D degree) in civil (geotechnical) or geological, engineering;
·         4+ years related experience in some or all of the following: site exploration, tailings dam design, mine and/or tailings planning, mine pit slope design, embankment dams, and earthworks design;
·         Strong workplace safety practices;
·         Valid driver’s license; and
·         Well organized, interested in technical and personal advancement while working under the mentorship and guidance of senior engineers, self initiator, able to carry out assignments with minimal supervision.
