Role Overview
AMEC E&I’s Prince George, Kamloops, and Smithers, British Columbia offices/Laboratories are looking for suitable candidates to fill junior and intermediate level Civil Materials Engineering Technician positions. These are regular full time positions that offer increased career growth and skill development in British Columbia’s very affordable but growing northern capital and epicentre for major transportation, energy, resource and pipeline project developments. Those demonstrating more advanced technical skills, professional judgment, experience, leadership and training abilities will be afforded the opportunity to take on higher level project management and supervisory roles.
$20/hour to $30/hour plus benefits, overtime
Key Responsibilities
·        Multitask and prioritize work in a team consulting environment.
·        Responsible for good client service
·        Provide quality control and quality assurance on a variety of laboratory and field testing projects including aggregate production, concrete, asphalt and field density programs
·        Conduct geotechnical soils and rock property tests on samples in the laboratory.
·        Preparation of field reports and lab reports.
·        Other responsibilities may include assisting geotechnical staff with field investigations, geotechnical instrumentation, sampling and construction field reviews.
·        Out of town work should be anticipated.
Role Requirements
·        A diploma in Civil engineering technology or relevant experience.
·        Ideal candidate will have 2 or more years of related materials testing experience including aggregate, soil, concrete, and asphalt testing is preferred. Applicants with less experience will also be considered.
·        CCIL / ACI certification for field and laboratory concrete and testing is considered an asset.
·        Experience on construction projects in Canada is considered an asset.
·        Must be well organized and have the ability to manage and prioritize several tasks at one time to ensure a commitment to excellent service and technical excellence
·        Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are required.
·        Accurate note taking and record keeping.
·        Applicant must hold a valid Class 5 drivers license, with a favourable driver’s abstract.
