Senior Accounting Associate

Executive Finance
The DFO manages the Family Office of Ray Dalio, the founder of Bridgewater and a global philanthropist.  This department exists to provide outstanding service to Ray and his family, which includes both the management of current endeavors (projects, special requests, etc.) and long-term wealth planning and management. 
The DFO has grown significantly over the past few years, increasing in both size and capability to provide a higher level of support and convert the organization to a multi-generational foundation.  While its focus is the Dalio family, the DFO shares Bridgewater’s idea meritocratic culture as the lifeblood of its organization.  Given the highly sensitive nature of its responsibilities, the DFO is a tight-knit department where honesty and integrity are foundational values.  All members are uniquely valued, are encouraged to meet their potential and are given additional responsibilities that align with their capabilities and interests.
The Senior Accounting Associate is responsible for providing complete, accurate and timely accounting services, which include supporting the general ledger system, month-end closing and financial reporting operations.  The right individual must be agile (able to think on their feet) and excited to handle changing priorities and complex initiatives. A successful team member excels at connecting goals to tasks, identifying, deconstructing and solving difficult problems, leading initiatives to create and implement sustainable long-term solutions and coaching and mentoring junior team members. The ideal candidate must also demonstrate high integrity and discretion as they will be trusted with handling highly sensitive information.   • Ownership over key accounting and financial projects and processes
  • Management and execution of:
    • General ledger month-end close, ensuring accurate results are delivered on time for financial and tax reporting
    • Bank, credit card and balance sheet reconciliations
    • Cash management functions
    • Information, analysis and reports needed for tax return preparation
  • Performing ongoing reviews and routine audits
  • Identifying areas of risk, creating and implementing solutions to avoid future risks
  • Coaching and training junior team members
  • 7+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, additionally a CPA or CA is preferred
  • Experience working with a computerized general ledger accounting software program (i.e. QuickBooks, Intacct, NetSuite or comparable program preferred)
  • Experience leading and directing the work of others
  • Ability to juggle multiple complex streams of work, keep things on track and consistently meet deadlines
  • Individual who is dedicated, driven and operates with a high degree of ownership
  • Individual who is professional and discrete; able to handle confidential information appropriately and liaise with colleagues and auditors effectively
  • Individual who thinks in a systematic, continuous process improvement way; who constantly explores new ways to evolve processes and procedures  
  • Creative and practical problem solver who can build and implement sustainable solutions, who is able to connect goals to tasks
  • Excellent communication skills and someone who values open and honest conversations
